The core of this project is questioning building foundations. By doing this dt_architecture+shop postulate the following question: why architects haven’t adapted buildings to withstand natural disasters, particularly flooding?
Constant flooding has become a problem that affects a vast majority of people around the globe. Nowadays, we have record high rain, hurricanes and rising sea levels that we didn’t have before. Unfortunately, until our climate stabilizes there is no way to stop flooding events.
The investigation of adaptability of buildings through their attachment to the ground inspired dt_architecture+shop to search for answers and explore these issues in a very unconventional way, keeping in mind that this can be the beginning of something greater.
The experiment started with the purchase of a pontoon boat from the 1970's.
