Adequate Living, Affordable Living:

The Global demand for adequate housing around the world is at an all time high, with more than a billion people living in inadequate housing. To meet the projected growth of households, developing countries need to build 21 million houses a year for 10 years, that equates to one house every second and a half, twenty-four hours per day, which is an impossible task.

Most housing in developing countries are temporary structures that lack protection against wind and flood damage as well as electricity, running water and proper sanitation. It is evident that there is a need and demand for an affordable housing solution to the inadequate housing crisis.

dt_architecture+shop challenges the design of current INFONAVIT homes and makes an act of provocation to create dialogue within the community in Mexico. We believe that current low-income housing developments should be questioned. A home should not be only a shell; a home should be a space that suits peoples’ needs of comfort and provide a sense of worthiness and belonging to individuals.

The pre-fab  home proposed by dt_architecture+shop's is a 1 bedroom, 1 flex space, 1 bathroom, kitchen, living, patio, deck, water recollection system, green roof and 1 car parking space. On site slab on grade is poured before building transportation.

The prefabricated modular system in which the house is design will allow the possibility for the house to grow and adjust to families needs. Modules can always be added or removed, meaning that no all homes need to be configured the same way, there is always room for adaptation within the site constrains.
